About Montessori Academy of Valenzuela

Montessori Academy of Valenzuela first operated as a tutorial center in Quezon City under the name Little Villagers’ Learning and Tutorial Center in 1985. The school relocated to Valenzuela City in 1988 and started offering classes in the preschool levels.

Inspired by two students who expressed their desire to continue their elementary years in the school, Mrs. Engracia Goco, the School Directress, started plans to develop a more upgraded curriculum for the preschool and elementary levels.

To signify the school’s commitment to pursuing excellence in the field of education, it renamed itself as the Montessori Academy of Valenzuela. The school opened its Grade 1 class initially with 20 students in 1999. In 2000, to accommodate the increasing number of enrollees, the school once again relocated to a larger property in its present location in Gen. T. de Leon, Valenzuela City. The Preschool Department was formally recognized by the Department of Education in 2003, followed by the Elementary Department in 2004. MAV opened its High School Department in the school year 2005-2006 and was given government recognition in 2009.

Through the years, and with the competitive spirit of true MAVeans, the school has earned awards and recognitions in various competitions in the district, regional, and up to the national levels. Despite MAV’s growing number of students and increasing academic and curricular demands, the school continues its legacy of maintaining a child-centered learning environment with its non-traditional approach to education.
